Kick

The mighty kick delivered by Huo Tuo Zi in episode 3 of "The Record of Dragon Burial". This is one of several animations I completed for an episode of "The Record of Dragon Burial" which can be seen here [link] and here [link]

This was a difficult piece for me to accomplish. It may very well be the biggest challenge I've tackled in terms of animation to date. I went through a couple of steps to feel this out before I could reach the finish line. I've included some of the steps I took including the final version here.

The first animation is just a rough shape to get the general movement and figure out how the shading would look. I've slowed this one down so it can be seen better.

The second animation I went back and put down some rough line work to pull it together. Final changes were made to the body movements before moving to the next step. I also slowed this one down.

The third animation is everything finally brought together for the final version. I went through and smoothed out the line work put in the colors and background. This one is running at the normal speed.
